السنت بيج
السنت بيج هو منصب مرافق سيناتور الولاية ومساعدته أثناء عملة. وقد هيئ مركز المؤسسات الاسلامية في إلينوي  ضمن جدول أعمال يوم العمل لمسلمين إلينوي 25 من طلاب الثانوية في المدارس الاسلامية في إليتوي لشغل منصب السنت بيج في هذا اليوم.
 
حيث تنافس بالتقديم لهذا المنصب الطلاب المسلمين من الصف العاشر إلى الصف الثاني عشر بكتابة مقال في هذا الصدد وتم اختيار 25 طالبا هذا العام.
المشاركة المبكرة في هذا المنصب السياسي المميز في مبنى العاصمة كان له صدى رنانا بين الطلاب. وتكمن أهميته بكون هذه التجربة لم تتوفر لأجدادهم أو حتى تعبر في الحسبان. أما الآن فالمسلمين مستعدين ومتشوّقين لأخد مراكز أكثر تأثيرا في السياسة التي تنعكس عليهم مباشرة. فإذا لم يخطوا هذه الخطوة ويشغلوا هذه المناصب فقد يشغلها من سيؤثر بسياسته سلبيا على مجتعاتهم. المسلمون الآن فقط باشروا بالعمل بدلا من الهتافات.
فماذا يقول الطلاب المشاركين في السنت بيج؟
تحدثت الأفق مع بعض الطلاب الذين فازوا بهذا المنصب عن أسباب مشاركتهم وشعورهم بالعمل السياسي قبل مباشرة وظيفتهم لهذا اليوم وننقل لكم حديثهم التالي:
 
25 American Muslim Students taking in the experience of citizen advocacy
 
(Springfield, IL) 25 American Muslim high school students served as Senate Pages during Illinois Muslim Action Day (IMAD) on Thursday, April 22, 2010. More than 1,200 Muslims went to Springfield to advocate for issues for the common good. The young Senate Pages had the privilege to watch the legislative process from the legislator’s perspective. This experience aim to inspire young Muslims to be involved in government and public service in a way that paves an unprecedented path in the future of Muslim-American Civic engagement.
“The youth in the community are especially energized to tour the Capitol Building and 25 Muslim students will serve as Senate Pages,” said Kiran Ansari, Interim Executive Director of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC). “Our Youth Department has reviewed application essays and the excitement is contagious.”
 
 
Akram Almasri, Senate Page for IMAD and a10th grader from College Prep. School of America said, “Muslims should have greater benefit on the society they live in, they can influence their society in a positive manner.”
 
Allowing him to serving as a Senate Page will lay a foundation for him and Muslim youth to a future involvement in politics as it empower the image of Muslim Americans.
Akram added “I plan to show his talent, ability and skills to raise awareness to issues of important to my society”
 
“I feel more accomplished as a Muslim this will allow me to fulfill mu duties as a Muslim, American and a student,” said Samira Baraki, 11th grader from Islamic Foundation School. She was very excited as she got ready to participate and present the American Muslim in the best way she can. She said.
 
Hajra Sattar, 10th grade from College Prep School of America, also wants to help she said: “Our presence make a great impact on Illinois and recognize Muslims as a general public we add to society”
 
The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago has assembled for the second Muslim ACTION! Day to advocate for issues for the common good. More than 1,200 Muslims from all over Illinois, including 600 youth had met with legislators in the state capital, and advocated for the issues that affect Illinois residents some of these issues are:
 
1. Equitable Access to Healthy Food in the inner cities
2. Foreclosure Prevention and Counseling
3. Introduction of Arabic into the Illinois public schools
4. Preserving Immigrant Integration Services such as English and Citizenship classes
 
We had great positive media coverage and we set the bar very high for next year IMAD set on March 16, 2011,” said Dr. Zaher Sahloul, Chairperson of the Council. “Be proud Muslims, get civically engaged, connect with your legislators and vote.”
